Great Places To Visit - The Butlers Pantry - Numurkah, Vic, Australia.

Heading from Tocumwal to Melbourne you by-pass the little township of Numurkah on your left.  Literally, it's right there with a sign pointing to the town centre. So, because I could I turned left and went to the town centre. After all I was hungry, it was 9.30am, so breakfast was in order. Cruising down the main street, I saw "The Butlers Pantry", on my right at the round-a-bout. There were a couple of people in there and it looked nice, so I went around the round-a-bout and parked almost at the front door.  It's quiet at that time of day in a small country town, so no parking problems. No charges either! Walked in and looked around.  Nice.  Well laid out, nice decor, coffee aromas wafting in the air were enticing. Fronted up to the country to be met with a smiling friendly face. Asked for the breakfast menu which I was promptly given and then told to sit where ever I liked, she would be with me in a moment.  I selected a table and perused the delicious l...

Great Fun with Fabrics - Quilting - Japanese Ladies- Oriental Quilt.

We've recently brought ourselves a caravan for traveling around Australia, starting next year.  I decided that rather than buy a boring doona for the beds (we opted for 2 singles for more walk space) I would make quilts for the beds.  This is the first of 2 that I am making.  I choose to do this one first as I just loved these fabrics the most.  The second one is for my hubby's bed, so I choose black and white for him. He didn't really want a pretty "girly" quilt.  Strange man. (LOL) Still working on it. How I choose: I went to a Craft and Quilting Expo armed with $$$$.  I've always loved Asian prints, so went straight to a stall selling them.  Decided on a center piece panel. (Design in my head)  Wanted it to be simple, but colorful. Also I have a serious addiction to purple, so naturally, it had to have purple in it.   Fell in love with the 3 piece panel of beautiful women in traditional Kimono's.  Then matched up fabrics ...

Great Places To Visit - Esca Grill, 650 Mt Alexander Rd, Moonee Ponds, Victoria.

Went back to our all time favorite restaurant in Melbourne. Yep, still the best!  EVER!  AMAZING seafood, steaks, and great service.  Delicious, delicious, delicious. Can't find words.....it's that good.  I started with the mixed entree:  Prawn stuffed baby squid, chili bar-b-q prawn, and pan seared scallop.  DIVINE!!!! For mains I opted for a 250g Eye Fillet Medium.  Comes on a potato rosti.  I ordered table sides of mashed potato, broccolini, and pear, parmesan and rocket salad.  Others ordered the slow cooked lamb shoulder with roast pumpkin (for 2) Yummy, yummy, yummy.  We all shared a mixture of desserts, chocolate platter (so delish), lemon delicious pudding, a cheesecake thingy, don't know what it was but it looked great. There were 4 of us.  We ate 3 courses! Stuffed to the eyebrows with wonderful, fresh, exquisitely prepared tummy filling deliciousness.  What more can I say?  You MUST try it sometime.  ...

Great Places To Visit - Melbourne's Cosmopolitan Laneways- Hosier Lane, ACDC Lane, The Block Arcade.

Thanks to my friend Pam, she and I had a lovely time wandering around the heart of Melbourne and it's Cosmopolitan laneways.  Started with a train ride in from Ivanhoe Station getting off at Flinders St Station.  Went into the tourist information there and picked up a city centre map. Then off down Swanston St, turned right into Flinders Lane and stopped at a quaint little cubby hole cafe for a heart starting coffee.  Then off to Hosier Lane, back out onto Flinders Lane and continued down to ACDC Lane.  Lots of graffiti to photograph in these lanes. Down Collins St, through The Block Arcade resisting the urge to go into Haigh's Chocolates. Did pop into Gewurzhaus Spice Shop and The Art of Dr.Seuss. Brought some spices, but not some art!    We continued to wander about, down Collins St past Gucci, Dolce and; Cabana etc. As it was now lunchtime we selected a little Italian Cafe in one of the laneways for a light lunch.Anyway enough rambling on, here ...
