The Most Delicious, Easy, and Healthy Breakfast/Snack Ever!

If you have a Thermomix you will already have this recipe. It's CADA. I've just modified it slightly to suit me. For those who don't have a Thermomix a food processor will do nicely.

I LOVE this tasty meal/snack, and use it a lot as a pick-me-up, come feel good treat. I eat it as a breakfast food and also as a snack between meals to stop me eating sweet biscuits or anything else I shouldn't eat. It tastes sweet and delicious and I really enjoy the texture of it to chew on. Here it is.

CADA Plus. (Coconut,Apple,Date,Almond

Ingredients.
1 x apple of your choice. ( I use either Fuji or Pink Lady)
2 x heaped tablespoons of wholegrain rolled oats.
1/2 cup shredded coconut.
6 dates. (fresh if you can, seed removed).
1/4 cup almonds.

Plus:
Juice of 1/2 lemon.
1 small tub of your favourite yoghurt. ( or 2 heaped tablespoons out of a big tub)
1 x teaspoon honey.
Seasonal fruit to decorate. (Optional) (Strawberries and Kiwi fruit are great together) .

Method:
Wash, quarter and remove core from apple. Place in bowl of appliance.
Add oats, coconut, dates and almonds.
Chop until roughly fine. (Can be done by hand, just takes longer. Finely dice apple etc)
Tip into a mixing bowl, squeeze juice of 1/2 lemon over and mix well.

At this point you can store it in the frig in a sealed container for a couple of days. No longer, it doesn't taste nice after a couple of days as the apple goes brown eventually even with the lemon juice on it.

To eat now :

Take out 2 large tablespoons of mixture and place into a serving bowl.
Top with yoghurt. Garnish with chopped fresh fruit (if you want, this is optional)
Drizzle the teaspoon of honey over it all.
Sit down and enjoy!
I like to finish off with a nice mug of weak black tea or green tea to wash it all down.

I didn't use any extra fruit to garnish this time as I wasn't very hungry and it is a very filling food. You will be surprised how quickly it fills you up! East slowly and enjoy it. In the summer I nearly always use fresh fruit salad on top and make a big "feast" out of it.  You can alter the ingredient quantities to suit your own taste. These are just a guideline to start you off. It's so yummy I really enjoy keeping it in a sealed container in the fridge and "snack" on it when I'm hungry during the day, without guilt!

In summer CADA makes a wonderful dessert for a Bar-b-q with friends. They enjoy watching you create it in front of them. The base mix will feed approx 2 people, so just multiply from there. Serve your base mix onto a large platter, top with your yoghurt, seasonal fruit (or fruit salad), then drizzle with honey and for an added touch sprinkle with extra shredded coconut. Hand each of your guests a bowl and a spoon and invite them to "dig in". Stand back or you will get trampled in the rush for seconds!
Breakfast - Guilt free and delicious!

It's Baby Magpie Season

Yes it's Spring again. I know because the local magpies have 2 babies. I know this because I occasionally throw out scraps on my back lawn to supplement their food rations and they are regular visitors. This week they brought me a present.....2 babies. Must be a good season this year to be raising 2 babies instead of 1. Anyway the magpies here in Melbourne are white backed magpies as apposed to the magpies at Tocumwal in N.S.W. which are black backed magpies. Also the birds here in Melb. are larger than their northern cousins, probably all the McDonalds they eat down here! I enjoy listening to their warbling song and can't help but shake my head at the patience and persistence of the adult birds constantly being "harassed" by the chicks for food. They are noisy little critters when they are hungry and very bossy, often pecking at the adult birds for more food. I've named them....squarker 1 and squarker 2, they never seem to stop. Poor parent birds, these chicks a

Great Places To Visit To Eat in Melbourne. - Jahdomes - Mill Park

There's a lovely little French Cafe called Jahdomes off Childs Rd, Mill Park ( I think the shopping centre is called "The Stables"). if you happen to live within visiting range. Have eaten there a couple of times now with friends and found the food very good. They have a good range of breakfasts, lunches, tapas and desserts.  Good coffee to. They are closed on Tuesdays, but open otherwise as far as I know. I enjoyed the Mediterranean Scrambled Egg with Turkish Bread (feta, chorizo, tomato ) and coffee for lunch today. Very good. My friend had a scrambled egg with smoked salmon and a side salad instead of Turkish Bread, which they were happy to do, and she enjoyed that as well, and washed it down with a Chi Latte with spice. Breakfasts can be ordered up to 3.00pm so if your like us and like your eggs, you can have them for lunch!

Great Places To Visit: Tocumwal NSW on the Murray River.

Perhaps I'm a little prejudiced, as Tocumwal is my home town, but I've always loved the Murray River Red Gums and watching the river & the bird, animal life here. All year around it delights me. Even the noisy Corella's can't put me off, I love living here. So why would a visitor want to spend time in Toc? Let me list just a small few off its attractions for you: Water sports: Fishing, skiing, swimming, canoeing, and any other water play you might like. Food: We have a number of Pubs, Clubs, Restaurants & Cafes if not in town then in easy driving distant. BIG variety for good old schnitzels, salads & chips to take-a-way favorites, great Coffee & Cakes and Bakery delights to tempt the taste buds!!  If you're an Artist or Photographer then Toc is a plethora of diverse landscapes to draw (pun intended) your attention. I for one have never tired of its beauty.  For the traveler's in their campers or caravans Toc has a selection of options for you to
