Black Miniature Poodle & White Westie - Best mates.

Couldn't resist posting this in even though the photographer should be shot for such bad work. Never mind. You try keeping up with 2 little dogs playing "tag" with each other.  The Westie is my friends dog and she is 10 years old (although she forgets to act her age, just knocks up quicker), and the black poodle is my Miss Lily who is approaching 2 years old. Big age gap, but both love to play. Cerys just doesn't run as fast or as far as Lily, and being the "senior citizen", or Grumpy Grandma as we love to call her, she tries to "boss" the youngster around.......if only she could catch her! Keeps us smiling.

Great Places To Visit - Melbourne, Victoria, Australia- Parklands

Melbourne is a very diverse city. Being a country girl at heart I never thought I would be able to live happily in a city. Melbourne has proved to me that I can with its many park lands and reserves.  Having purchased a black miniature poodle to save my sanity, and make me walk more, I have begun to seek out areas where I can take her that are dog friendly. Right on my doorstep is a bike path that winds its way along Darebin Creek and onwards. I enjoy taking Miss Lily along the many pathways within the Darebin Parklands, as they have sections which are dog friendly and clearly marked  "off lead" areas where your dog can run free, chase a ball etc. Of course you are expected to be considerate of other people and their dogs in these areas and it is your responsibility to ensure your dog is obedient even off lead and friendly towards other dogs and people. Miss Lily is very friendly, and mostly obedient. Occasionally she might see another dog her size and run to say "he...

"Lily" the Miniature Poodle.

Lily is settling into our family beautifully. It would seem she was meant to be with us. We constantly laugh at her funny antics, and enjoy her happy, gorgeous nature. She is quick to learn, and eager to please, cheeky, and a boundary checker, loves a game, and a cuddle. Not so keen on being groomed, but learning. Also learning to walk on a leash. Enjoys her new toys and tears around the house or the yard with one or the other of them in her mouth. She also chooses her own toys, a piece of rope in the yard to race around with, and inside wanted my slippers! She was most disappointed to discover that I was not thrilled with that idea and took them off her! She sleeps on her bed in the laundry and only complains with mumbles and grumbles when put to bed, and then is quiet all night, until the first person gets up in the morning. That, unfortunately for me is my husband who rises at 5.00am to get ready for his work. Once Lily hears him she "mumbles" and "moans" until I...

A West Highland Terrier named Cerys

I have had the pleasure over the last few days to be "dog sitting" my friend's West Highland Terrier named Cerys. She is a little beauty. Great personality, and VERY smart. Only took her 2 seconds to realize she had a big softy in her paws, and I was her slave....sort of. We have been having a great time getting to know each other and communicating to each other. It hasn't taken her very long to train me at all. Going for walks with her each day has been a highlight for both of us I think. After 2 days, I now only have to put my runners on and she goes ballistic! It's so funny. How does she know that I will take her for a walk just because I put on a particular pair of shoes!! Too smart. And while out walking I collect up her lead and say "waaaaaaaaiiiiit" (wait) at each curb and by the fourth curb she doing it on voice command only! I've got a problem here, I think her IQ is FAR higher than mine!! Should I be worried?! No, I don't think so, I...
