Great Quilters Haven for Fabrics and Classes - Cutting Cloth Collections, 282 Wingrove St, Fairfield, Vic, Australia

Needed a good soaking in beautiful fabrics and remembered seeing this shop from the train on day as I was heading home from the city. So, googled it and away I went.  Had myself a good eye full of beautiful fabrics, cottons, and all things quilting. Left smiling.  Love a good quilt shop. Check this place out for yourself. They are on the web also: www.cuttingcloth.com.au

Great Fun with Fabrics - Quilting - Japanese Ladies- Oriental Quilt.

We've recently brought ourselves a caravan for traveling around Australia, starting next year.  I decided that rather than buy a boring doona for the beds (we opted for 2 singles for more walk space) I would make quilts for the beds.  This is the first of 2 that I am making.  I choose to do this one first as I just loved these fabrics the most.  The second one is for my hubby's bed, so I choose black and white for him. Machine Quilting for Beginners

First: I joined a quilting class. Second: I purchased my first sewing machine with hints and tips from my quilting teacher. Third: Didn't know how to sew, so quilting class number one, was also sewing lesson number one! Don't get all agasp and think wow I couldn't do that! Yes you could, cause I did! As my quilting teacher pointed out...."it's just straight lines, or crooked lines", "anyone can do that", and fortunately she was right! Anyone did....me. Since then, the bug has well and truly bitten. I enjoy all types of quilting from applique, to patches, to well....anything that I fancy. I like to make quilts that you can toss in the washing machine, hang on the cloths line, and then use. I'm not into show quilts. If you can't use it, I have no interest in making...
